Great food and service. Family owned business that takes extreme pride in the restaurant. Sizzling NY Stip was delicious!. Owners are fantastic, talk to everyone, and provide great service. Atmosphere is unique to the area with western decor and country music playing in the background. Will go back and recommend.

Had a great experience! Started with baked clams. Then I did the Duke, 24 oz RIB EYE. Little fatty at the ends, but I totally expected that from a rib eye. Cooked perfectly for my liking. The room was lively with young families.

Charlie Bloods is a fantastic spot! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it perfect for a casual meal. The menu has a great variety of delicious options, and everything I tried was flavorful and well-prepared. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. Absolutely wonderful dining experience!!! This family owned and operated establishment is a true gem! The food was delicious, nicely portioned, and excellent quality! The staff is a multigenerational family and so incredibly kind & full of amazing stories! It is a must try!

Hands down the best hole-in-the-wall restaurant I’ve ever been to! You walk into what feels like a cozy dive bar, but when you ask to sit in the dining room, they take you through the kitchen to the back—and wow, it’s like stepping into a hidden gem packed with memorabilia everywhere you look. I didn’t even know where to start taking it all in! The owner personally went around to every table, greeting everyone and chatting with us about the history of the place—which alone deserves 10 stars. Every single dish we tried was absolutely fantastic. The baked clams were massive, and the garlic clams in that buttery garlic sauce? I could honestly drink it with a spoon. Then came the steaks—perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth delicious. To top it all off, the chef came out to greet everyone too and asked how everything was. It’s such a rare touch that made us feel like family, like we’d been regulars for years. And for the kids—there’s even a fun little scavenger hunt, which is such a cute idea! If I could give Charlie Bloods 20 stars, I would. This place is full of heart, history, and seriously good food. Can’t wait to go back!

I must say, this place was truly amazing!! We stopped in for dinner in between my sons soccer games at GHS. The food was on point and the service at the bar today was amazing. The entire staff was a delight and this place is truly a gem!!!!!! Must try if in the area!!!

What a spectacular place! 6 of us walked in to the quirky little bar and were directed to walk through the kitchen (yes, the kitchen) to the main dining room. As strange as this sounds I like when a restaurant has nothing to hide! I felt like I was walking through a family members kitchen. The staff here make you feel like a part of their family, every person working that night came to our table to see if we needed anything, made great recommendations, or just stopped to say hi. Now to the food, we started off with a few apps for the table. We had stuffed clams, buffalo wings, salad, pizza, and cowboy shrimp. All of them were delicious but the pizza and shrimp were outstanding. The pizza was light but crispy with delicious gravy and perfect amount of cheese. The shrimp had to be about 4”, breaded and tossed with hot peppers (not crazy hot) and some kind of glaze, ridiculously good. Everyone at the table had some kind of steak. I had the 12oz ribeye with shrimp scampi. It was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and seasoned just right (nothing overpowering) This steak was better than most higher end steakhouses. The shrimp scampi was excellent as well. My friend ordered the beefsteak platter which was also very good. Just like a beefsteak fundraiser, little slices of bread with sliced steak on top. We all had food to take home, the portions are big! We will definitely be back to Charlie Bloods, this truly is a hidden gem!

My first visit to Charlie Blood's definitely won’t be my last. We started with the baked clams, which were fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick things off. The bar pie was exactly what you want from a classic Jersey tavern pie—thin, crispy, and packed with flavor. For mains, the steak with shrimp scampi was outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly and the shrimp scampi added that rich, buttery garlic flavor that made the whole dish stand out. The Drunken Onion Burger was another highlight—juicy, loaded with caramelized onions, and just downright satisfying. The owner even came out with some of their dessert options to try which ended the night perfectly. The food, atmosphere, and overall experience made for a great first visit. Safe to say I’ll 100% be back to try even more on the menu. If you’re in the area and looking for great food in a classic local spot, Charlie Blood’s is absolutely worth the stop.

In the mist of a conversation with some friends the topic of the Clifton high school beefsteak fundraisers came up and we all remembered them fondly and missed them greatly. I said a restaurant should serve them and someone mentioned that Charlie Bloods in Garfield has them. A few weeks later…. Looked a little funky from the outside and when I walked inside it was bizarre, I loved it. The bartender asked if we wanted to sit at the bar or dining room I asked where is the dining room and she pointed at the doorway leading into the kitchen, yes you walk through the small kitchen to the dining room. I found out later that there is a seperate entrance to the dining room. They have some local breweries on tap; Ghost Hawk & Hackensack and to be fair I had one of each. My sidekick had wine and when you go into some of these pretentious places and they properly pour you a 1/3 of a glass of wine not so here; fill it up to the brim! Yes, why waste all that space in the glass! We ordered the wings to get started and then the reason for the visit; Beefsteak Platter! It was great! Nah a little better than great, magnificent! Definitely will be back! Best of all the bill came and for 4 drinks, wings and a beefsteak platter $51. WOW!!!!!!!!
